Weymouth, Dorset, United Kingdom Teaching Personnel Full time
About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity for an ambitious, enthusiastic, and motivated teacher to join a pioneering and forward-thinking school.

The school provides education for approximately 85 pupils who have complex and severe learning needs. All pupils have an Education, Health, and Care Plan, and they have a very wide range of abilities within their pupil population.

Each pupil's needs are carefully and individually evaluated, so that within the context of their well-developed and profoundly personalised curriculum, all pupils can aspire to reach exceptional standards.

The school has excellent facilities, including Hydro Therapy, Sensory Room, Soft Play Room, various therapies, and a playground.

About the Class

The class size is 11 students, across Year 10 and 11. All pupils have learning and cognition needs to varying degrees and are working towards their personalised curriculum rather than being assessed against the national curriculum.

The class includes pupils with diagnoses such as ASC, GDD, Down's Syndrome, and other syndromes associated with learning delays. Some of the students are non-verbal.

Up to 4 pupils may undertake Entry Level Functional Skills qualifications.

Key Responsibilities

You will:

  • Be an excellent classroom practitioner (ECTs and mainstream teachers welcome, but you must have QTS)
  • Be responsible for planning and delivering dynamic lessons
  • Aspire to provide learning opportunities for the full range of our pupil's needs
  • Have excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Have oversight of a wide range of aspects of education, including pastoral, preparation for adulthood, and community-based learning

The role is to start as soon as possible and is to cover maternity leave.

All applicants will require the appropriate qualifications and training for this role. Please see the FAQ's on the Teaching Personnel website for details.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.

Teaching Personnel is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. We undertake safeguarding checks on all workers in accordance with DfE statutory guidance 'Keeping Children Safe in Education'. This may also include an online search as part of our due diligence on shortlisted applicants.

We offer all our registered candidates FREE child protection and prevent duty training. All candidates must undertake or have undertaken a valid enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check. Full assistance provided.
