Workshop Manager Job Description

**Job Summary:**

We are seeking a highly experienced and skilled Workshop Manager to oversee the day-to-day operations of our control panel build team at Automation Experts. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the team, supervising electrical drawings and documentation, maintaining a safe and clean workshop, and overseeing the build-up and testing of all cabinets.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage the control panel build team, ensuring efficient and effective workflow.
  • Supervise and update electrical drawings and documentation, ensuring accuracy and compliance with industry standards.
  • Maintain a clean, tidy, and safe workshop environment, adhering to health and safety regulations.
  • Oversee the build-up and testing of all cabinets, ensuring quality and reliability.
  • Organize the transport of equipment and electrical panels to and from site, ensuring timely delivery.
  • Responsible for monitoring and purchasing stock required for panel manufacturing, ensuring optimal inventory levels.
  • Take charge of Health & Safety in the workshop and on site, ensuring compliance with regulations.
  • Handle project documentation, including RAMS and permits, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
  • Manage company resources effectively and appropriately, ensuring optimal utilization.

Requirements:

  • Completed a 3-year apprenticeship (ONC, HNC is a plus).
  • A minimum of 2-3 years' experience in managing a workshop.
  • Previous experience of maintaining workshop inventory and purchasing required.
  • Experience working with different voltages (24V AC/DC; 415V AC).
  • Experience working to IEC standards is highly desired.
  • The ability to read and understand Electrical & Mechanical drawings.
  • CAD experience and knowledge in EPLAN (both are a plus).
  • Knowledge in conveyor and robot systems, and PLC and HMI programming (all are a plus).
