Workshop Manager

Automation Experts is seeking a dedicated and experienced Workshop Manager to supervise their control panel build team.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage the day-to-day operations of the control panel build team, ensuring efficient workflow and productivity.
  • Supervise and update electrical drawings and documentation, maintaining accuracy and compliance with industry standards.
  • Maintain a clean, tidy, and safe workshop environment, adhering to health and safety protocols.
  • Oversee the build-up and testing of all cabinets in the office, ensuring quality and reliability.
  • Organize the transport of equipment and electrical panels to and from site, coordinating with logistics teams.
  • Responsible for monitoring and purchasing stock required for panel manufacturing, optimizing inventory levels.
  • Take charge of Health & Safety in the workshop and on site, implementing risk assessments and mitigation strategies.
  • Handle project documentation, including RAMS and permits, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Manage company resources effectively and appropriately, minimizing waste and maximizing efficiency.
Requirements:
  • Completed a 3-year apprenticeship (ONC, HNC is a plus)
  • A minimum of 2-3 years' experience in managing a workshop, with a proven track record of success.
  • Previous experience of maintaining workshop inventory and purchasing required, with a focus on cost control.
  • Experience working with different voltages (24V AC/DC; 415V AC), with a strong understanding of electrical systems.
  • Experience working to IEC standards is highly desired, with a focus on quality and compliance.
  • The ability to read and understand Electrical & Mechanical drawings, with a strong attention to detail.
  • CAD experience and knowledge in EPLAN (both are a plus), with a focus on design and development.
  • Knowledge in conveyor and robot systems, and PLC and HMI programming (all are a plus), with a focus on automation and control.
