Job Title: Specialist SEND Support Practitioner

The Manchester College is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Specialist SEND Support Practitioner to join our Supported Learning Department. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in supporting students with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) to achieve their full potential.

About the Role:

The Specialist SEND Support Practitioner will work closely with students, teachers, and other support staff to provide individualized support and guidance. You will be responsible for coordinating the support needs of students, ensuring they receive high-quality support that promotes independence and achievement of vocational and Preparation for Adulthood Outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Meet with students and support staff to coordinate support needs and ensure efficient delivery of support services.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of individualized support plans.
  • Provide guidance and support to students with SEND, promoting independence and self-advocacy.
  • Collaborate with teachers and other support staff to ensure seamless support delivery.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of support services, making recommendations for improvement.

Requirements:

  • Minimum Level 3 Learning Support qualification or willingness to achieve within an agreed period.
  • Minimum of a Level 2 qualification in English and Maths.
  • Experience in a vocational field beyond education/industrial/service sector experience.
  • Experience and knowledge of the specific issues relating to the education of young people and adults with sensory, physical impairments, or other specific learning difficulties.
  • Competence in the use of Microsoft Office Suite and its accessibility features.
  • Significant experience of working with students with EHCPs in a further education setting.
