Job Title: Specialist SEND Support Practitioner

The Manchester College is committed to providing high-quality education and training to learners with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Specialist SEND Support Practitioner to join our Supported Learning Department.

The Supported Learning Department is a dynamic and growing team that provides support to learners with complex needs. As a Specialist SEND Support Practitioner, you will work closely with learners, teachers, and other support staff to ensure that learners receive the support they need to achieve their goals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Meet with learners and support staff to coordinate support needs and develop individualized support plans
  • Assist in the coordination of support services, including vocational and academic support
  • Work with learners to develop their independence and life skills
  • Collaborate with teachers and other support staff to ensure that learners receive high-quality support
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of support services and make recommendations for improvement

Requirements:

  • Minimum Level 3 Learning Support qualification or willingness to achieve within an agreed period
  • Minimum of a Level 2 qualification in English and Maths
  • Experience in a vocational field beyond education/industrial/service sector experience
  • Experience and knowledge of the specific issues relating to the education of young people and adults with sensory, physical impairments or other specific learning difficulties
  • Experienced and competent in the use of Microsoft Office Suite and its accessibility features
  • Significant experience of working with students with EHCPs in a further education setting
