Principal Structural Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Principal Structural Engineer to join our team at Pick Everard. As a key member of our multidisciplinary team, you will be responsible for the design and management of a diverse range of projects across various sectors, including health, education, commercial, custodial, and residential.

**Key Responsibilities:**

  • Deliver exceptional technical and commercial structural solutions, ensuring they are delivered to the highest quality, on time, and to budget.
  • Undertake stakeholder engagement, including clients, contractors, and end-users.
  • Lead and manage a team of structural engineers, providing guidance and support to ensure the successful delivery of projects.

**Requirements:**

  • Chartered member of ICE or IStructE.
  • Exceptional structural engineering knowledge with a deep understanding of key principles embedded in theory and practice, with a proactive approach to problem-solving.
  • Excellent verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate ideas effectively with clients, members of the design team, and manage/supervise/mentor employees.
  • Experience relevant to UK practice and knowledge of UK design standards, codes of practice, and methods of construction.
  • Familiarity with structural engineering modeling, analysis, and design software (Tekla Structural Designer, Tedds, and STAAD Pro, Revit, Navisworks, BIM360).

  • Excellent time and people management skills.
  • The motivation to undertake relevant CPD and increase skills and knowledge.
  • Experience in day-to-day control of resourcing, programming, planning, and costs.
  • Effective team management skills.
  • A knowledge of forms of appointment and construction contracts.
  • Excellent report writing and presentation skills.
