Advanced Social Work Practitioner

The Safeguarding Children in Need team is a multidisciplinary team that works directly with families who are identified as Children in Need under Section 17 of the Children Act 1989.
The service operates across three geographical pods: Wyre Forest and Bromsgrove.
The team works with children who have stepped down from a child protection plan and consent to ongoing support via a child in need plan, as well as children who are privately fostered, on a Supervision Order, or on a Special Guardianship Order.
The team also supports children whose family has no recourse to public funds or resettlement families, babies who were part of the prebirth pathway, and children under 18 years of age who are pregnant or have a baby and they are both either or have level 4 needs as children in Need.
Key Responsibilities- Work directly with families who are identified as Children in Need under Section 17 of the Children Act 1989

The Advanced Social Worker for that pod will review the transfer request and respond within 5 working days to the allocated worker/ Team Manager by either agreeing attendance at the next CIN meeting to resume caseresponsibility, agreeing a transfer point which supports the family and avoids delay wherever possible, or escalating to TM and/ or GM where there is concern transfer is not appropriate for the family.
The team operates a transfer process where the LCS transfer episode will be completed by the transferring out locality /team, identifying the type of child in need case and the date of the next CIN review meeting or a proposed transfer point / date.
