About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Consultant Perinatal Psychiatrist to join our Perinatal Psychiatry Service at Cumbria, Northumberland, Tyne and Wear (CNTW) NHS Foundation Trust.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide senior medical input to the Perinatal Community Team in Tyne & Wear.
  • Hold weekly outpatient clinics at St. Nicholas Hospital, Newcastle upon Tyne, and Monkwearmouth Hospital, Sunderland.
  • Contribute to the consultant on-call rota.
  • Assess and make recommendations under the Mental Health Act.
  • Act as a Responsible Clinician for detained patients.
  • Provide medical leadership to the Perinatal Community Mental Health Team.
Requirements
  • Registered as a Specialist in Psychiatry on GMC Specialist Register.
  • Approved under the section of the Mental Health Act.
  • Approved Clinician status.
  • Up-to-date knowledge in the field of Perinatal Psychiatry.
  • Awareness of current issues in mental health service provision, policy, and legislation.
