About the Role

Ramsden Hall Academy is a residential special school for boys aged 10 to 16 who have an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) for Social, Emotional and Mental Health. We admit up to 100 boys from across the county, with transportation provided by Essex Local Authority.

We are seeking dedicated and passionate Residential Child Care Workers to join our residential team in our highly successful academy, which holds a Good Ofsted status. Our residential provision holds Outstanding Ofsted status.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support students from the point of leaving school, during the evening and until the following morning when they go back to school.
  • Encourage students to engage in physical activities, healthy snacks, and educational pursuits.
  • Develop and implement individualized placement plans, risk assessments, and activity rotas.
  • Participate in the general supervision of students, ensuring they adhere to acceptable standards of behavior.
  • Provide sensitive and effective care in a safe and supportive environment.
Requirements
  • Proven experience of working with children and young people with SEMH.
  • Ability to use Microsoft Word and Excel, and willingness to learn.
  • NVQ Level 3 in Child/Young Persons Care, or equivalent, is strongly desirable.
  • Driving license qualifications to drive a D1 mini bus is desirable.
  • Ability to work as part of a highly effective team.
  • Enthusiastic, reliable, and committed, with energy, vigor, perseverance, and empathy.
  • Ability to manage confidential data in a professional and sensitive way.
  • Adaptable and flexible to changing circumstances.
  • Ability to learn school policies and procedures.
  • Understanding of the school's behavior management policy.
  • Understanding of the importance of physical and emotional well-being.
