About the Role

Ramsden Hall Academy is a residential special school for boys aged 10 to 16 who have an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) for Social, Emotional and Mental Health. We admit up to 100 boys from across the county, with transportation provided by Essex Local Authority. Every student has an EHCP, and they have a variety of social and emotional needs.

We are seeking dedicated, passionate, and committed Residential Child Care Workers to join our residential team in our highly successful academy, which holds a Good Ofsted status. Our residential provision holds Outstanding Ofsted status.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support students from the point of leaving school, during the evening, and until the following morning when they go back to school.
  • Make healthy snacks, agree on activities, talk about their day, and encourage students to have a shower and get changed.
  • Encourage students to choose at least one physical activity, which staff will support and get involved with.
  • Help with school work, watch TV or a film, and support students to go to bed after a story or chat.
  • Wake students to get ready and go off to breakfast ready for their school day.
Requirements
  • Proven experience of working with children and young people with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health needs.
  • Ability to use Microsoft Word and Excel, and email, or willingness to learn.
  • NVQ Level 3 in Child/Young Persons Care, or equivalent, is strongly desirable.
  • Driving license qualifications to drive a D1 mini bus are desirable.
  • Ability to work as part of a highly effective team.
  • Enthusiastic, reliable, and committed, with energy, vigor, perseverance, and empathy.
  • Ability to manage confidential data in a professional and sensitive way, with an understanding of the Data Protection Act and GDPR.
  • Adaptable and flexible to changing circumstances.
  • Ability to learn school policies and procedures.
  • Understanding of the school's behavior management policy.
  • Understanding of the importance of physical and emotional well-being.
  • Demonstrated commitment to developing and learning in the role.
