Job Purpose:

The Performance Music Educator will be responsible for delivering a comprehensive and relevant music curriculum to students aged 16-19, focusing on Level 2 and Level 3 qualifications. This role involves nurturing students' performance and business skills to meet industry standards while guiding them through their educational journey.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Align with SoundSkool's core values of Creativity, Responsibility, Excellence, and Determination in all aspects of work.
  • Collaborate with the Head of College and fellow educators to enhance the music curriculum, including lesson plans and assessment materials tailored to individual student needs.
  • Design and implement engaging, industry-focused teaching methods, utilizing our state-of-the-art facilities and partnerships.
  • Work alongside the enrichment team to create learning opportunities outside the standard curriculum.
  • Develop personalized learning plans for students requiring additional support, ensuring their success through differentiated instruction.
  • Conduct regular tutorials to set and monitor developmental goals for assigned student groups.
  • Act as a Learning Manager, addressing the emotional and social needs of students to foster a supportive community.
  • Lead the organization and execution of student showcases, highlighting their achievements.
  • Collect and analyze data to track student progress, engaging in target setting and intervention strategies.
  • Maintain accurate records in accordance with best practices and institutional policies.
  • Promote student well-being and provide tailored learning experiences.
  • Participate in parent meetings and contribute to student evaluations.
  • Adhere to all institutional policies regarding safeguarding, health and safety, and data protection.
  • Engage in professional development and training as required.

Candidate Profile:

  • Undergraduate Degree (Essential)
  • Qualified Teacher Status, PGCE, or Level 5 Teaching Diploma (Essential)
  • Experience in developing educational materials (Desirable)
  • Proven track record of effective teaching and student progression (Essential)
  • Strong organizational and planning abilities (Essential)
  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills (Essential)
  • Proficient in teaching musicianship, music theory, and practical skills (Essential)
  • Secondary instrument proficiency (Desirable)
  • Ability to foster a culture of high expectations (Essential)
  • Experience in mentoring and supporting students (Essential)
  • Familiarity with educational management systems (Desirable)
  • Competence in using technology for educational purposes (Essential)
