Job Title: Head of Asset

Freightliner, the UK's largest maritime intermodal logistics operator, is seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to join our team as Head of Asset. As a key member of our finance team, you will be responsible for managing fixed assets and leases across our European operations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage and oversee the accuracy and completeness of lease records within our global leasing system.
  • Assist with the transition to our new leasing system, including process improvements and ensuring a smooth transition.
  • Ensure timely completion of month-end reviews and close process for fixed assets and leasing.
  • Prepare and review fixed assets and leases deliverables to our parent entity on a monthly and quarterly basis.
  • Liaise with internal and external auditors to ensure compliance with all relevant standards.
  • Provide technical review of accounting for new and modified lease contracts and capitalisation of costs under applicable accounting standards.
  • Support finance business partners and directors with providing accurate and timely reports and ad-hoc analysis to aid decision-making.
  • Support statutory accounts preparation for multiple legal entities.
  • Support the regional tax team in the preparation of lease tax calculations.
  • Support leasing activities for all European regions.
  • Identify and suggest process improvements that generate efficiencies or strengthen our lease and fixed asset control environment.
  • Manage a small team of junior staff, supporting their professional development.
  • Prepare and review key month-end reconciliations to ensure the completeness and accuracy of accounting balances.
Requirements:
  • Qualified accountant (or qualified by experience).
  • Strong technical accounting knowledge and good understanding of US GAAP and IFRS, particularly for fixed assets and leases.
  • Ability to multitask and work well under pressure, prioritising tasks and workload and managing conflicting demands of the business units and senior management team.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to interact effectively with all levels of staff across the UK/Europe region, as well as key stakeholders.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills with the ability to plan own work, work autonomously and on own initiative and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent attention to detail with a high level of accuracy of work.
  • IT literate with advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
