About the RoleWe're seeking a talented Category Development Executive to join our close-knit Category Team. As a key member of our organization, you'll be responsible for building category growth in partnership with our focus customers, driving category leadership, and equipping our Sales and Trade & Brand Marketing colleagues with category-led analysis and recommendations.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and maintain deep category expertise, with a focus on the convenience channel and its specific retailers.
- Own all external category relationships with our convenience customers, converting data into actionable insights and compelling category stories.
- Track, review, and explain the performance of the category and Accolade in convenience, developing and maintaining reports for customers and sales teams.
- Identify sales opportunities and risks for Accolade in the convenience channel, bringing an independent and objective voice to influence commercial sales teams.
- Support the Senior Category Manager in meeting the needs of a wider set of internal and external customers, working closely as a team.
- Mastery of market data analysis and shopper insight tools, including Nielsen, IGD, and Consumer Segmentation.
- Bring an independent and objective perspective to all work, with a focus on delivering value-added insights and recommendations.
- Contribute to the creation of Accolade's category vision and growth drivers, sharing insights with convenience customers.
- Support annual brand planning with a category-led approach, working with the Brand, Insight, and Sales teams to convert insights into compelling selling stories.
- Degree-level education and 1-2 years of experience in an FMCG environment, either in shopper insight, consumer insight, or market data analysis.
- Or, experience in a role that worked closely with a category management team, such as sales, trade marketing, or brand marketing.
- Use of Nielsen or Circana data, and/or Kantar data systems.
- Loyalty card-based software experience, such as Dunn Humby, SIP/Nectar, Quantium, or Hive.
- Professional Development: build and follow a bespoke Professional Development Plan (PDP) with your manager.
- Continuous Learning: use your PDP, regular 1:1s, quarterly goals, and Accolade training resources to continuously grow and develop.

- IT Skills: competent in Microsoft Office, including Excel and PowerPoint.
- Data Management: able to process and analyze large datasets to find answers to questions and briefs.
- Communication & Influencing: present and persuade in written and verbal forms to internal and external stakeholders.
- Time Management: structure your own available time, manage multiple projects, and deliver commitments.
- Resilience: adapt flexibly and proactively in a fast-paced environment.
- Team Working: work collaboratively to achieve shared team and company goals.
