About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Nurse to join our team at HMP Exeter, working as part of the South West Prison Healthcare contract awarded to Oxleas NHS Trust.

As a Senior Nurse, you will provide high-quality primary care services and specialist interventions for offenders, working in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide clinical leadership and supervision to junior staff, ensuring high standards of care and patient safety.
  • Develop and implement effective care plans, working collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to promote health and well-being.
  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of National Standards for Health Care in Prisons, ensuring compliance and best practice.
  • Collaborate with other professionals and agencies to promote health and prevent disease, working proactively to address health inequalities.
  • Ensure effective systems and interfaces with community and acute health services, ensuring continuity of care on release or discharge.
Requirements
  • Minimum of two years' experience at Band 5, with a strong background in prison or offender healthcare.
  • Working knowledge of current issues and agendas facing prison and offender healthcare.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, presenting ideas with clarity and influence.
  • Knowledge of current National Prison Health Quality and Performance Indicators.
