About the Position

Dalkia UK is looking for a Project Planning Specialist to enhance our Specialist Services team. This role is pivotal in supporting project teams by delivering comprehensive planning and monitoring services, ensuring that all project activities, timelines, risks, and solutions are effectively documented and communicated.

The Project Planning Specialist will ensure that all planning content adheres to established procedures, identifying the scope of planning, significant constraints, and contractual obligations. The role involves establishing and agreeing on key construction methods, sequencing, installation, and commissioning processes.

This position will primarily be based in Macclesfield, with the flexibility to work from Manchester or in a hybrid model on designated days.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, maintain, and communicate detailed project plans, managing timelines and resources (including personnel, budgets, and projects) while reporting on progress, productivity, and potential risks.
  • Facilitate project review meetings, ensuring that the project schedule is the driving force behind all activities.
  • Oversee the schedule section of the daily site management board, presenting any deviations and proposed mitigations during weekly meetings.
  • Analyze complex project schedules, identify challenges, and implement necessary changes in alignment with business objectives.
  • Collaborate with project teams to identify inefficiencies and propose solutions that align with operational goals.
  • Provide forecasts for completion dates and overall project timelines, including cost estimates.
  • Ensure compliance with quality management systems and identify areas for improvement.
  • Engage with project teams to assess performance metrics of both direct employees and subcontractors regarding safety, quality, and adherence to schedules.
  • Conduct regular site visits to monitor project progress and ensure alignment with the latest project schedule.
  • Generate resource plans throughout the project lifecycle, starting from the tender phase to project completion, coordinating with labor management to ensure the latest information is utilized.
  • Maintain a disciplined approach to project scheduling, ensuring clear communication across all levels of the organization.

Essential Skills

  • Fundamental knowledge of electrical and mechanical systems.
  • NVQ Level 4 in Construction Contracting Operations (planning).
  • Valid CSCS certification.
  • A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in project planning within a contracting environment, or equivalent skills and experience.
  • Understanding of earned value analysis and productivity metrics.
  • Proficiency in planning methodologies and tools.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Familiarity with various tender and contract documentation.
  • Knowledge of risk and opportunity management in relation to project planning.
