We are seeking a dedicated Biomedical Scientist Band 7 Team Leader to join our vibrant and fast-paced Microbiology department.

This position is integral to a team that delivers a high-quality Microbiology service across multiple healthcare facilities and local community practices.

Our laboratory is pioneering in the UK, offering select Specialist BMS staff the innovative opportunity to analyze bacterial cultures remotely, utilizing advanced BD Kiestra Synapsys technology.

We are excited to present an attractive benefits package, which includes a Wellbeing Allowance valued at up to £1500 annually for our distinguished team members in Band - 6 positions.

Moreover, for Band 5 & 6 roles that require night shifts, enhanced compensation will be provided. For Band - 8c positions, a discretionary team performance bonus of up to 5% of annual salary may be awarded.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Overseeing Quality Control (QC) and Quality Assurance (QA) within your area, ensuring that any non-conformances are thoroughly investigated and documented, with necessary adjustments to practices identified.
  • Developing and maintaining Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) relevant to your responsibilities.
  • Reporting, investigating, and monitoring errors and incidents in accordance with established policies.
  • Conducting risk assessments and COSHH evaluations in your area of responsibility.

Applicants must be HCPC registered and possess a Specialist portfolio or equivalent in Microbiology. A management qualification at ILM level 3 or relevant experience is required. Candidates should demonstrate a solid understanding and experience with industry-standard laboratory information management systems and computer applications.

Familiarity with both manual and automated microbiological techniques, as well as molecular biology methods and platforms, is essential.
