We are seeking a dedicated Microbiology Team Leader to join our dynamic and fast-paced team. This position is integral to delivering a high-quality Microbiology service across multiple healthcare facilities and local community practices.
Our laboratory is pioneering in the UK, offering innovative opportunities for specialized staff to analyze bacterial cultures remotely, utilizing advanced technology.
As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in enhancing our healthcare services. We provide ongoing training and mentorship to help you grow professionally and personally. We are looking for candidates who are enthusiastic, possess strong interpersonal skills, and are eager to advance their careers in a supportive environment.
We prioritize employee well-being and offer a comprehensive rewards package, including a Wellbeing Allowance of up to £1500 annually for team members in specific roles. Additionally, enhanced compensation is available for night shifts, and a discretionary performance bonus of up to 5% of salary for higher-level positions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver clinical analytical services for patients and stakeholders.
- Oversee daily staffing to ensure safe service delivery and adherence to turnaround times.
- Engage in service development initiatives.
- Supervise and ensure the training and competency assessment of team members.
- Conduct staff appraisals.
- Participate in recruitment processes.
- Ensure quality control and quality assurance in your area, addressing non-conformances as needed.
- Participate in audits and maintain standard operating procedures.
- Investigate and report errors and incidents according to established policies.
- Monitor key performance indicators to maintain service standards.
- Conduct risk assessments and ensure compliance with safety regulations.
- Attend and lead departmental meetings as required.
- Act as a deputy for senior management when necessary.
Required Qualifications:
- HCPC registration and a relevant specialist portfolio in Microbiology.
- Management qualification at ILM level 3 or equivalent experience.
- MSc / FIBMS (by examination) / IBMS Higher Specialist Diploma and Fellowship Class of the IBMS or equivalent experience.
- Flexibility to work across multiple sites in a 24/7 environment as needed.
- Strong analytical, numerical, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficient in laboratory information management systems and computer applications.
- Knowledge of microbiological techniques and practices.
- Familiarity with molecular biology techniques and platforms.
