Position Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Specialist Substance Misuse/GP Liaison Nurse to enhance our service delivery in providing exceptional recovery care to a varied clientele. In the role of Specialist Substance Misuse/GP Liaison Nurse, you will deliver a comprehensive array of health and wellness interventions aimed at harm reduction, adhering to our established service delivery model. Your responsibilities will include collaborating with General Practitioners to manage and treat patients on long-term medications that may lead to dependency, such as Benzodiazepines and Opiates, and facilitating their transition to specialized services when necessary. Additionally, you will offer expert insights and interventions regarding all aspects of drug and alcohol-related health issues. You will oversee the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of nursing care, setting high standards while managing a caseload and coordinating with other relevant agencies.

This role is both diverse and fulfilling, as you will work alongside the Clinical Lead to support the professional development of the nursing staff, contributing to the evolution and implementation of our nursing philosophy, vision, and values.

As an advocate for our clients, you will collaborate closely with them to identify their physical, psychological, spiritual, and social support needs. Your flexible approach will ensure that you provide high-quality nursing care across various environments, promoting client health and well-being while maintaining a safe and therapeutic atmosphere.

Essential Qualifications

To excel in this position, you will need to:

Hold current NMC registration as a Registered Nurse Have significant experience at a senior level in a relevant healthcare environment Demonstrate experience in providing both management and clinical supervision in individual and group contexts Exhibit a strong background in substance misuse Maintain accurate records and manage staff while providing and receiving supervision Conduct comprehensive needs assessments, including risk evaluations Possess knowledge of the safe handling and administration of medications, particularly controlled substances Collaborate effectively with diverse groups and individuals across various settings Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate care for service users, responding appropriately to any changes Engage clients positively, treating them with respect and dignity Demonstrate strong written and verbal communication skills
