Position Overview
The Marine Autonomous and Robotic Systems (MARS) division is seeking a highly skilled individual to take on the role of Associate Head of MARS (Operations). This position is pivotal in overseeing the operations of our advanced marine robotic fleet, which is integral to the National Marine Equipment Pool, the largest centralized marine scientific equipment repository in Europe.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and manage teams responsible for the maintenance, preparation, and operation of various marine robotic vehicles, including AUVs, underwater gliders, uncrewed surface vehicles, and ROVs.
- Collaborate closely with the Head of Marine Facilities Programmes to ensure the successful execution of multi-year operational plans.
- Engage with marine scientists and technologists to enhance service offerings and operational capabilities.
- Facilitate the deployment of marine research equipment in diverse environments, including polar regions and deep oceanic areas.
Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate will possess extensive engineering expertise and a proven track record in managing complex marine autonomous systems operations. Strong leadership skills and the ability to foster collaboration within the marine science community are essential.
