Candidate Profile - We seek an individual with a solid background in revenue accounting and a comprehensive understanding of IFRS 15/revenue recognition principles. The successful candidate will not only be responsible for revenue recording but will also engage in Process Mapping, making experience in documenting processes highly beneficial.
We are looking for a capable accounting professional who can quickly adapt and possesses strong commercial insight. This role is ideal for a proficient communicator, preferably with experience in Shared Services or within a large, multi-site, or multi-subsidiary global organization.
The position requires on-site presence for 3 days a week initially, which may reduce to 2 days once acclimated and trained. The on-site requirement is essential, thus suitable candidates should reside within a reasonable commuting distance to Crawley.
Note - Our client is currently unable to provide sponsorship.
Role Responsibilities - This hybrid position necessitates 2-3 days a week on-site in Crawley. The client prefers candidates who live within a reasonable commuting distance to the office. Standard office hours apply, but flexibility is expected around month-end to facilitate successful collaboration with the US team. This is a 7-month fixed-term contract, with the potential for extension, though this cannot be guaranteed.
Key Duties -
- The International Revenue Accountant will ensure revenue is recorded in accordance with IFRS standards, often involving complex agreements. This includes reviewing customer purchase orders, Statements of Work, Master Purchasing Agreements, and Terms & Conditions.
- The primary focus will be on supporting US revenue accounting, with the flexibility to engage in various aspects of revenue recognition both domestically and internationally.
- Assisting in the documentation of existing processes and controls.
- Monthly tasks include preparing journal entries for revenue and transfer costs, as well as conducting account reconciliations.
- Uploading financial data to the corporate consolidation system and generating management reports utilizing advanced Excel skills such as pivot tables and v-lookups.
- Additional responsibilities encompass maintaining revenue amortization schedules, analyzing purchase price variances, and conducting provision analyses.
- Collaboration and communication with FP&A, Auditors, Accounting, Tax, Supply Chain, Order Entry, Commercial Operations, and other global business experts are essential.
- Project management experience, along with analytical and investigative skills, is required.
- Some flexibility in working hours may be necessary to support colleagues based in the US.
Qualifications -
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
- 3-5 years of experience in revenue accounting.
- Experience in service industries, manufacturing, and intercompany accounting.
- Familiarity with revenue recognition regulations (IFRS 15) for multi-element arrangements.
- Experience in Process Mapping and enhancement.
- Proficiency with JDE E1 ERP/Accounting, Apttus, Cognos, or similar reporting tools, as well as Salesforce or comparable CRM systems is desirable.
- Experience in a process-oriented environment such as shared services or outsourcing.
- Strong Excel skills and effective oral/written communication abilities.
- Experience in process management and familiarity with Lean Six Sigma or other process management methodologies is preferred.
- Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving capabilities.
- Quick learner, able to grasp complex transactions, agreements, systems, and documentation.
- Effective team player, capable of working in a large team environment and meeting tight deadlines.
