About the Role

You will join our Student Support team, which oversees the Institute's mental health and wellbeing services. This includes supporting students with health conditions, impairments, or disabilities, faith, and spiritual support, as well as coaching for professional and personal development.

Your Responsibilities

  • Support approximately 45 Student Engineers, overseeing a year group and providing individual support through coaching and mentoring.
  • Keep meticulous records of support offered and provided to students, ensuring confidentiality and compliance with relevant regulations.
  • Work with the Undergraduate Experience Officer to develop a tailored personal and professional development experience for your supported year group.
  • Champion inclusivity and accessibility across the Institute's provision, collaborating with staff and students to achieve this goal.
  • Prioritize work, managing multiple caseloads and engaging with various stakeholders to achieve outcomes.
  • Take a student-centered approach, involving students in decision-making and identifying themes or topics for wellbeing activities and events.

About You

  • Hold a degree-level qualification or equivalent experience.
  • Have previous experience working with young adults in Higher Education, Further Education, or community settings.
  • Deliver presentations and workshops, adapting your style to suit different audiences.
  • Understand equality, diversity, and inclusion, mental health, disabilities, and learning differences, with knowledge of available support and resources.
  • Preferred experience in 1:1 support, such as coaching, mentoring, and counseling, with a willingness to obtain a coaching qualification.
  • Build strong relationships with young adults and colleagues, demonstrating effective active listening skills.
  • Collaborate and negotiate with individuals and teams to secure the best outcomes for students, including vulnerable students.
  • Be comfortable adapting to change and committed to continuous professional development to stay up-to-date with relevant progress in student wellbeing and reasonable adjustments.
  • Have strong organization and prioritization skills, with the ability to work independently and balance workload effectively.
