Job Description

Wood, a global leader in consulting and engineering, is seeking a highly skilled Senior Financial Analyst to join our team in Aberdeen, Scotland.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Financial Reporting: Ensure accurate and timely financial reporting, including month-end close activities, to enable the business to monitor performance and drive improvement.
  2. Financial Analysis: Provide clear and concise variance analysis of actual monthly results compared to budget/forecast to support contract management in understanding and acting upon financial results.
  3. Balance Sheet Management: Ensure accurate reporting, aging, and improvement actions for unbilled, unearned, accounts receivable, and accruals.
  4. Days Sales Outstanding (DSO): Report, analyze, and support improvement of DSO.
  5. Financial Information Provision: Provide financial information as required by the business, including project governance reporting, HSE manhours, and others.
  6. Monthly Results Presentation: Present monthly results to Contract Manager/Finance Business Partner.
  7. Invoice Control: Undertake control checks on invoices produced by DFSS billing in conjunction with the commercial team and provide guidance on non-routine invoicing requirements.
  8. Budgeting and Forecasting: Prepare and analyze annual budgets, mid-year forecasts, and monthly rolling forecasts for collection of contracts in conjunction with Contract/Delivery Managers and Commercial teams.
  9. Risks and Opportunities: Maintain a risks/opportunities schedule to support the latest forecast.
  10. Cash Flow Forecasting: Prepare contracts cash flow forecasts (rolling 13-week lookahead) and actively monitor payments, escalating issues as applicable.
  11. Labour and Non-Labour Reconciliations: Review and act on findings from labour/non-labour reconciliations on a monthly basis.
  12. Compliance: Ensure compliance with all Wood policies, including accounting, credit risk, and code of conduct.
  13. Ad Hoc Tasks: Execute various ad hoc tasks as requested by Finance Lead, Contract/Delivery Managers, or Finance Business Partners/Senior Finance Managers.
Requirements
  • Qualifications: Recognised accounting qualification or part-qualified and actively studying towards a professional qualification (ACCA/CIMA, etc.).
  • Knowledge and Experience: Relevant accounting experience, proficient user of Excel, good commercial knowledge, and understanding of contract commercials.
  • Job-Specific Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills for effective report writing and to support communication of financial information to non-finance people.
