Job Overview

GSL Education is seeking a dedicated SEM Teaching Assistant to provide tailored support to students with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs in a supportive educational environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide individualized support to students with SEMH needs, promoting a positive and inclusive learning atmosphere.
  • Assist in developing and implementing effective learning strategies to enhance student progress.
  • Foster a nurturing and collaborative classroom environment, working closely with teachers, parents, and other professionals.
  • Monitor and assess student progress, adjusting support as necessary to meet individual needs.
  • Manage and support students with diverse behavioral and learning needs, ensuring a safe and inclusive environment.
Requirements
  • Experience working with children or young people in a SEN school setting is highly desirable.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with students, teachers, and parents.
  • Patience, empathy, and a commitment to supporting student development and well-being.
  • Ability to manage and support students with challenging behavior, using positive behavioral support strategies.
  • A current enhanced DBS or willingness to apply for a new one, ensuring a safe and secure environment for all students.
