About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Marine Design Engineer to join our team at Expleo. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for leading the design and development of marine systems and ensuring that our clients receive the highest level of technical expertise.

Key Responsibilities
  • Team Leadership: Provide guidance and direction to less experienced team members, promoting effective working and personal development.
  • Engineering Decision Making: Make informed engineering decisions within your sphere of responsibility and delegated authority.
  • Technical Expertise: Stay up-to-date with relevant technical areas, develop skills and capabilities, and provide technical support and expertise to others as required.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Build strong relationships with key stakeholders to successfully discharge the role.
Requirements
  • Qualifications: Degree qualified in a relevant STEM discipline, or equivalent experience in the naval and commercial ship design, construction, or maintenance domain.
  • Professional Membership: Professional member of a relevant engineering institution (RINA, IMarEST, IMechE).
  • Chartered Engineer: Recognised as a Chartered Engineer by the UK Engineering Council (or an ability to achieve within 6 months).
Essential Skills
  • Submarine Design Experience: Knowledge and experience in submarine early-stage design, including system design and initial modelling.
Desired Skills
  • Leadership Experience: Proven track record of leading detail design and engineering teams.
  • Collaboration and Influence: Strong collaborating and influencing skills to build positive, effective, and trusted relationships.
  • Project Delivery: Ability to drive the performance and delivery of an engineering project.
  • Strategic Mindset: Strategic mindset, with strong influencing skills.
  • Communication: Ability to communicate effectively.
Experience
  • Minimum Experience: The successful candidate will ideally have a minimum of 8 years post-graduate experience (12 years for non-degree qualified) working in Naval Maritime domain, including submarine background.
Security Clearance
  • Sole UK Nationality: Sole UK nationality and eligible for 'Security Check' (SC) or 'Developed Vetting' (DV) security clearance.
