The Global Risk division is a robust and specialized risk management entity that supports HSBC on a global scale, addressing various risk categories such as security, fraud, information security, contingency, geopolitical, operational, credit, pension, insurance, market, and reputational risks. Each segment of the Global Risk team utilizes their expertise, insights, and integrity to tackle existing threats and anticipate emerging ones, ensuring HSBC's sustainable growth.
We are currently in search of a seasoned professional to take on the role of Chief Risk Officer for Trust and Fiduciary Services (TFS).
Operating under the HSBC Global Private Banking and Wealth (GPB&W) umbrella, TFS offers services in personal trust, estate management, philanthropy, and family governance.
Reporting directly to the Global GPB&W Chief Risk and Compliance Officer, the primary objective of this role is to oversee the effective identification and management of all enterprise risks (both current and emerging) across TFS on a global scale, facilitating the business in achieving its strategic growth goals sustainably.
Key Responsibilities:
- Contribute to the formulation of the TFS business strategy and annual operational plan, ensuring that risks are adequately addressed.
- Develop and execute the TFS Risk Management strategy and priorities, aligning with the GPB&W Chief Risk Office's objectives and TFS's strategic growth goals.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders across various business units to establish and implement the TFS business risk appetite.
- Supervise the implementation of Group Risk Policies within the business and assist in the development and maintenance of TFS-specific policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with risk appetite.
- Provide independent support, guidance, and constructive challenge to the business and functions, ensuring proactive identification and management of current and emerging risks.
- Serve as the primary contact for the Global GPB&W Chief Risk and Compliance Officer and the TFS Global CEO regarding enterprise risks.
To excel in this position, candidates should possess the following qualifications:
- Extensive experience in the financial services sector and/or risk management.
- Demonstrated understanding of private wealth management and trust services, with experience in frontline operations, management, or functional support (e.g., Risk or Compliance) preferred.
- Proven capability to navigate a complex matrix environment, collaborating across diverse countries and cultures.
- Experience in a regulated setting.
- Strong grasp of Risk Management principles and methodologies.
- Comprehensive understanding of the regulatory landscape and requirements.
The base location for this role will be flexible, allowing for hybrid working arrangements.
