Human Factors Ergonomics Specialist

About the Role:

This is an exciting opportunity to join SRG as a Human Factors Ergonomics Engineer, where you will play a critical role in the development of defense technologies. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for ensuring that the human-machine relationship is optimized, engaging with users from early concept through to delivery.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Human Factors Integration: Conduct Human Factors Integration throughout the development lifecycle, providing progressive assurance to the customer as per relevant standards.
  2. User Interface Design: Develop user interface prototypes and conduct Human-Centered Design to ensure that defense systems are safe, usable, and effective.
  3. Operator Analysis: Analyze and assess the role of the operator within the weapon system, considering system planning, command, and control.
  4. Requirements Development: Define Human Factors (HF) requirements and develop and maintain detailed specifications (e.g., for Human-Machine Interaction (HMI) / Human-Computer Interaction (HCI)).
  5. User Experiments: Conduct user experiments and trials to support system conception, development, and verification, taking into account operator workload and situational awareness.
  6. Physical Ergonomics: Analyze physical ergonomics, equipment, and integration into workspaces.

Requirements:

  1. Member of the Chartered Institute of Ergonomics and Human Factors (CIEHF).
  2. Experience in user interface design and use of user interface prototyping tools such as Axure.
  3. Proficiency in implementing Human-Centered Design processes.
  4. Application of Human Factors Integration and Human Factors Engineering in a defense context.
  5. Knowledge of defense standards.
  6. Experience in core HF activities including task analysis, requirements development, user trials, and experimentation.
  7. Application of physical ergonomics and experience with CAD software such as Jack or RAMSIS.
  8. Good understanding of Systems Engineering and related disciplines (Supportability, Training, Systems), including the definition and verification of HF requirements.
  9. Proficiency with MS Office and DOORS (requirements management).
  10. Ability to generate technical reports.
  11. Strong planning skills.
  12. Customer-focused with effective communication skills.
