Job Summary:

Matchtech is seeking a highly skilled Senior Structural Engineer to join our team in a contract role within the Defence sector. As a Senior Structural Engineer, you will be responsible for ensuring the structural integrity of submarine structures and components.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform structural steel analysis and design, with experience in timber and concrete design being beneficial.
  • Utilize computer-based analytical techniques, including finite element analysis, CAD modelling, and engineering schematics.
  • Support manufacturing, assembly, lifting, handling, and installation processes of submarine structures and components.
  • Consider facility and site restrictions for the shipping, handling, alignment, and installation of large structures.

Requirements:

  • Expertise in structural steel analysis and design.
  • Hand analysis and design techniques, including report writing.
  • Good understanding of mechanical engineering, structural steelwork, and knowledge of lifting handling and LOLER.
  • Working knowledge of ABAQUS, S-Frame, Foran, MathCAD, and Excel.
  • Previous experience in a production environment, particularly in marine production, would be advantageous.
