Job Title: Senior Engineer - Structural Engineering (Shock and Dynamics)

Location: Barrow-in-Furness. We offer a range of hybrid and flexible working arrangements, including relocation support packages for eligible candidates.

Salary: From GBP39,000, depending on skills and experience.

Job Summary: We are seeking a Senior Engineer to support Principal Engineers with the setting of sub-system requirements to meet whole boat naval shock requirements. The successful candidate will also support the management of verification, validation, and qualification evidence to ensure sub-systems meet shock requirements.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Supporting Principal Engineers with the setting of sub-system requirements to meet whole boat naval shock requirements.
  2. Supporting the management of verification, validation, and qualification evidence to ensure sub-systems meet shock requirements.
  3. Developing design justification documentation.
  4. Supporting and undertaking assessments of structures and equipment subjected to naval shock load cases.
  5. Providing design guidance at design reviews with respect to naval shock load cases.
  6. Undertaking peer review checking activities.
  7. Supporting physical shock test activities.
Requirements:
  1. Mechanical Engineering Degree (or STEM degree).
  2. Knowledge of undertaking structural design calculations (i.e. bolted joints / bending moment / shear stress).
  3. Understanding of material strength properties and limits (elastic and plastic properties).
