Salary: Circa £50,000 - depending on skills and experience

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Structural Engineer to join our Dynamics team at BAE Systems. As a key member of the team, you will be responsible for performing complex simulation and analysis of structures and mounting systems subjected to high acceleration levels during naval shock events.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Performing simulation and analysis of structures and equipment subjected to dynamic loading
  • Providing structural design guidance at design reviews with respect to naval shock load cases
  • Following internal procedures and developing evidence of compliance through written calculations and reports
  • Undertaking peer review checking activities to approve methods and calculations
  • Leading and supporting the identification and rapid closure of issues emerging from all product lifecycle stages
  • Leading technical development and research activities, methods and acceptance criterion, liaising with industrial partners and external customers as necessary
  • Providing realistic programme status, identify problem areas and implement agreed recovery plans
  • Providing guidance and mentorship to junior engineers within the team

Requirements:

We are looking for a candidate with a Mechanical Engineering Degree (or related STEM degree) and a strong understanding of the principles of structural mechanics and dynamics. Experience in using Finite Element Analysis (FEA) software is essential, and knowledge of MatLab, MathCad, and Python is desirable.
