Conservation Ranger

Overview

As a Conservation Ranger, you will be a vital advocate for environmental preservation and outdoor stewardship, playing an essential role in maintaining the beauty and health of our cherished natural landscapes for both wildlife and the community.

Your role will require flexibility, including working on weekends, public holidays, and evenings, as well as being available for on-call duties.

Work Environment

Reporting to the Property Operations Manager, you will collaborate with a dedicated team of Rangers, including three fellow Rangers, an Assistant Ranger, and approximately 40 enthusiastic volunteers committed to conservation initiatives. Your base will be at a significant natural reserve, recognized for its historical and ecological importance. The Ranger Team actively engages in traditional conservation practices such as grazing, coppicing, and pollarding, which are essential for sustaining the diverse habitats and cultural heritage of the area for future generations.

Key Responsibilities

In this role, you will be responsible for:

• Protecting and nurturing habitats, wildlife, structures, and equipment.
• Sharing your passion and knowledge to inspire others to appreciate and care for the environment.
• Engaging with visitors, providing information, and answering inquiries to foster a deeper understanding of conservation efforts.
• Ensuring that all conservation activities and outdoor experiences are conducted to the highest standards.
• Building strong relationships within the local community, effectively representing the organization and promoting the initiatives undertaken by your team.
