About the Role: As a Behavior Support Teaching Assistant, you will work within a unit that caters to students facing various challenges, including attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, social difficulties, and emotional regulation issues. Your primary responsibility will be to provide stability and support to these vulnerable learners, helping them to thrive academically and socially.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the educational development of students by recognizing and adapting to their unique learning styles.
  • Engage with students to build trusting relationships, encouraging positive behavior and emotional regulation.
  • Assist in integrating students into mainstream classes, ensuring they remain focused and on task.
  • Utilize appropriate strategies to manage challenging behaviors, including the application of restraint training when necessary.
  • Provide feedback and support to staff, promoting a positive and collaborative environment.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 6 months experience in a pupil referral unit or similar educational setting.
  • Level Two Teaching Assistant qualification or equivalent.
  • Flexibility in work patterns and a willingness to adapt to the needs of the students.
  • Team Teach training is desirable, but training will be provided.
  • Enhanced DBS subscription or willingness to apply for one.
