About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Histopathology Specialist to join our team at Harrogate and District NHS Foundation Trust. As a key member of our laboratory team, you will be responsible for performing a range of clinical laboratory tasks to support the specialized diagnostic service for patients in the Histopathology Department.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform routine diagnostic testing procedures in the laboratory on histology and non-gynae cytology samples.
  • Accurate descriptive note taking whilst assisting the pathologist at specimen dissection.
  • Production of digital images of specimens.
  • Processing and embedding tissue blocks.
  • Production of high quality sections.
  • Performance of routine and specialised staining techniques.
  • Assessment of all stained slides for quality and accuracy.
Requirements
  • HCPC Registration.
  • IBMS accredited BSc degree or equivalent.
  • Specialist portfolio or equivalent experience.
  • Significant experience in a UKAS accredited clinical histopathology laboratory.
  • Broad and specialist experience of histological procedures.
