About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Speech and Language Therapist to join our team at a low secure unit for males with a learning disability, including those with co-morbid personality disorders, mental illnesses, and autistic spectrum disorders (ASDs).

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage complex cases, cultural and linguistic differences, and generate strategies to support service users.
  • Demonstrate specialist knowledge in communication and swallowing disorders, contributing to the assessment and information-gathering regarding service users' mental capacity and ability to give informed consent.
  • Assist service users to maximise their independence in decision-making and communicating their wishes.
Requirements
  • Degree in Speech & Language Therapy and registered with the HCPC.
  • Experience of managing a caseload involving assessment and treatment of Dysphagia.
  • Experience of working with families and evidence of continuing Professional Development.
  • Specialist clinical knowledge and experience in Adult Neuro-rehab.
