About the Role
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Psychiatrist to join our esteemed team within the Rehabilitation & High Support Directorate (RHSD). This role focuses on providing specialized care to patients in our 10-bed male PICU, Walkerwood unit.
Your Responsibilities
- Deliver comprehensive medical and psychiatric care to male patients within the PICU setting. This includes conducting initial assessments, regularly evaluating mental and physical health, prescribing medications, and gathering relevant patient history from various sources.
- Actively participate in weekly ward rounds, contributing to multidisciplinary reviews of patients, documenting findings in the PARIS electronic system, and preparing comprehensive admission and discharge summaries.
- Under supervision, prepare psychiatric reports for Hospital Managers' Hearings and Tribunals. Depending on your experience, you may represent the Responsible Clinician at these hearings and occasionally at Tribunals.

Essential Requirements
- MBBS or equivalent qualification
- Full registration with the GMC with a valid license to practice
- Minimum four years of full-time postgraduate experience, including two years in a specialty training program or as a fixed-term specialist doctor in a relevant field.
- Extensive experience working within multidisciplinary teams in general adult psychiatry at the basic trainee level.
- Proven ability to handle on-call duties in general adult psychiatry.
Desirable Requirements
- MRCPsych or equivalent qualification
- Experience in preparing psychiatric reports for legal proceedings
- Participation in clinical audit, research, and service improvement initiatives
- Proven ability to deliver undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and training
