Research Group

The Safeguarding Health through Infection Prevention (SHIP) research group operates at the intersection of Nursing and Community Health, as well as Biological and Biomedical Sciences. This multidisciplinary team, composed of experts including nurses, microbiologists, and epidemiologists, is dedicated to advancing evidence-based clinical practices.

The successful candidate will engage in prospective surveillance and the characterization of the pathogenic yeast Candida auris in Scotland. Additionally, the role will involve exploring effective methods for controlling C. auris on surfaces commonly found in healthcare settings. Collaboration with various partners, including academic institutions and healthcare providers, will be essential.

Candidate Profile

We are looking for a motivated and experienced individual to fulfill this externally funded research position within the SHIP group. The role requires a commitment of five days per week (1.0 FTE) for an eighteen-month duration. Candidates should possess a PhD or be nearing completion, with substantial experience in clinical project management and laboratory research. Familiarity with fungal biofilms is highly desirable.

Strong communication skills, both written and oral, are essential for effective collaboration with NHS and academic partners, ensuring timely delivery of project outputs and objectives.
