The Safeguarding Health through Infection Prevention (SHIP) research group operates at the intersection of Nursing and Community Health, Biological and Biomedical Sciences. This multidisciplinary team is composed of professionals including nurses, microbiologists, and epidemiologists, all focused on enhancing clinical practices through evidence-based research. Our research initiatives aim to collaborate with public stakeholders, patients, clinical personnel, and commercial entities to improve patient care and public health outcomes.

Role Responsibilities

The successful candidate will engage in prospective surveillance and both phenotypic and genotypic analysis of the pathogenic yeast Candida auris within Scotland. Additionally, this role will explore effective strategies for controlling C. auris on surfaces associated with healthcare settings. The position requires collaboration across various institutions, including Glasgow Caledonian University, University of the West of Scotland, and NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde.

Candidate Profile

We are looking for a motivated and skilled individual to fulfill this externally funded research position within the SHIP research group. The role is structured for full-time engagement (1.0 FTE) over an eighteen-month period. Candidates should possess a PhD or be nearing completion, with a strong background in clinical project management and laboratory research. Experience in working with fungal biofilms is highly desirable. The role necessitates effective communication with NHS and academic partners, ensuring timely delivery of research outputs and objectives.
