Job Purpose

The University of Glasgow is part of a collaborative initiative involving seven universities, dedicated to establishing a new national research center. This center is funded through substantial UKRI and stakeholder co-investment, aimed at a 5-year program focused on challenge-led research in digital twinning for transport decarbonization.

This research initiative will leverage successful consultations that investigated transport decarbonization and mode integration.

The national research hub will be tasked with generating new insights, technical expertise, and policy guidance related to the UK's digital twinning priorities in transport decarbonization.

This ambitious research program is backed by over 65 industrial, research, and stakeholder organizations.

The consortium represents a diverse network of specialists, including a significant number of early career researchers, research associates, and PhD candidates, who will collaborate in a multidisciplinary environment to advance this pioneering research.

The successful applicant will collaborate closely with Dr. M. Sevegnani and Dr. B. Archibald, making significant contributions to the project while also participating in the development and submission of research publications and proposals, as well as assisting in the management of this complex project as opportunities arise. Main Duties and Responsibilities

  2. Document research outcomes, including data analysis and interpretation, maintaining comprehensive records and databases, and drafting technical reports and papers as necessary.

  3. Establish and enhance your research profile and that of the University of Glasgow, ensuring a track record of independent and joint publications of international caliber in high-quality refereed journals, thereby increasing research impact in terms of economic and societal benefits.

  4. Conduct thorough literature reviews and understand the research challenges associated with the project and subject area, developing and implementing an effective research strategy.

  5. Present research findings at national and international conferences, as well as internal and external seminars, to promote and enhance the research profile.

  6. Identify potential funding sources and assist in crafting proposals to secure funding from both internal and external entities to support future research endeavors.

  7. Foster and maintain collaborations with colleagues across the research group, School, College, University, and the broader community, including academic and industrial partners.

  8. Take an active role in team meetings, seminars, workshops, and School research group activities to enrich the knowledge, outputs, and culture of the School and College.

  9. Lead the organization, supervision, mentoring, and training of undergraduate and/or postgraduate students and less experienced project team members to ensure their effective development.

  10. Perform administrative tasks related to the research group's activities, including budget management.

  11. Contribute to teaching activities and associated administrative tasks as assigned by the Head of School in consultation with the Principal Investigator.

  12. Stay informed about current knowledge and recent advancements in the field.

  13. Engage in personal and professional development to enhance both specialized and transferable skills in line with career aspirations.
