About the Research Group
The Safeguarding Health through Infection Prevention (SHIP) research group operates at the intersection of Nursing and Community Health, Biological and Biomedical Sciences. This multidisciplinary team, comprising nurses, microbiologists, and epidemiologists, is focused on advancing evidence-based clinical practices. Our research endeavors aim to collaborate with the public, healthcare professionals, and commercial partners to enhance patient care and improve overall health outcomes.
Role Responsibilities
The successful candidate will engage in:
- Conducting prospective surveillance and detailed characterization of the pathogenic yeast Candida auris in Scotland.
- Investigating effective methods for controlling C. auris on surfaces associated with healthcare settings.
- Collaborating with various stakeholders, including NHS and academic partners, to ensure timely delivery of research outputs and objectives.
Candidate Profile
We are looking for an enthusiastic and experienced individual with:
- A PhD qualification or nearing completion.
- Extensive experience in clinical project management and laboratory research.
- Previous knowledge and experience in working with fungal biofilms.
- Strong oral and written scientific communication skills.
