Position Overview

We are seeking a Band 7 Senior Pediatric Speech and Language Therapist to become a vital part of our School Age Complex Needs Pathway. This role involves providing support to students and staff in educational settings.

This rewarding position is ideal for a seasoned therapist, encompassing responsibilities such as overseeing junior staff, contributing to service enhancement, and managing a diverse caseload under the guidance of the Pathway Lead.

The ideal candidate will possess experience in assisting students with intricate physical, behavioral, and communication challenges, in addition to learning disabilities. Familiarity with various total communication strategies is essential, and skills in managing feeding and swallowing needs are advantageous.

You will be tasked with establishing communication objectives and targets, collaborating closely with educational personnel and families as part of the child's Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) and annual review process.

Additionally, you will design and implement clinical sessions in conjunction with other Speech and Language Therapy team members.

The Band 7 role includes mentoring, leadership, and support for junior colleagues, currently comprising six staff members across two locations.

You will coordinate with educational institutions and Speech and Language Therapy team members to organize and deliver training for staff and families, both in-person and virtually.

Home visits will be conducted for children not currently attending school, and you will provide guidance to some post-16 educational settings.
