Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Consultant in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry to join our team at Dorset HealthCare University NHS Foundation Trust.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide high-quality clinical care to children and adolescents with mental health issues, including assessment, diagnosis, and treatment planning.
  • Lead and manage a multidisciplinary team of healthcare professionals to deliver effective care and support to patients and their families.
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure the highest standards of care and safety for patients.
  • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals and agencies to ensure seamless care and support for patients.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of clinical governance policies and procedures.
  • Participate in research and audit activities to improve patient care and outcomes.
Requirements
  • Hold a medical qualification (e.g. MBBS, or equivalent) and be registered with the GMC.
  • Have a CCT in Psychiatry or be on the Specialist Register in Psychiatry.
  • Have Section 12(2) approval and Approved Clinician approval or be able to obtain approval before starting the post.
  • Have excellent clinical skills, knowledge, and experience in child and adolescent psychiatry.
  • Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Have the ability to work effectively in a team and lead a multidisciplinary team.
Desirable Qualifications and Experience
  • Have a qualification or higher degree in medical education, clinical research, or management.
  • Have experience of working in a leadership or management role.
  • Have experience of teaching and training junior medical staff.
  • Have experience of research and audit activities.
