Position Overview

Swansea Bay University Health Board is seeking a qualified Clinical Rehabilitation Specialist to join our dedicated Medical Team.

This role presents an exciting opportunity for the successful candidate to engage in collaborative efforts within a cohesive multi-disciplinary team. You will be responsible for delivering specialized evaluations, targeted interventions, and rehabilitation services to patients in a clinical environment.

Close collaboration with multidisciplinary team members is essential, as you will contribute to the enhancement of a high-quality, evidence-informed rehabilitation service. This position offers a unique chance to influence and advance the service, allowing you to participate in service development and transformation.

Strong leadership, communication, and organizational abilities are crucial, along with a solid foundation of clinical expertise. However, a willingness to grow and develop these skills within the role will also be highly regarded. You will have access to various opportunities to enhance your leadership, management, and clinical competencies.

Flexibility is required to accommodate the needs of the service, including a 7-day work schedule with extended hours throughout the year.

Key Responsibilities

- Manage a designated caseload within your area of expertise, utilizing evidence-based and client-centered approaches to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate intervention outcomes while maintaining accurate records.

- Ensure clinical documentation meets established standards and provide accurate reports to relevant parties.

- Collaborate with clients, caregivers, and the multidisciplinary team to establish pertinent goals.

- Provide guidance and oversight for junior staff as directed by your supervisor or Team Leader.

- Supervise Occupational Therapy students during their practical placements.

- Engage in Continuous Professional Development (CPD) and enhance your skills and knowledge through participation in the Band 6 Development Programme and other professional growth activities.

Proficiency in Welsh is preferred for this position; however, applications from both English and Welsh speakers are encouraged.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Degree in Occupational Therapy (or equivalent qualification)
  • Professional Registration with HCPC

Desirable

  • Accredited fieldwork supervisor for the education of OT students

Experience & Knowledge

Essential

  • Experience in managing a caseload autonomously, including assessment, planning, intervention, and evaluation within the relevant clinical area
  • Understanding of the Occupational Therapy process within the specialized area of the role
  • Knowledge of Clinical Governance principles
  • Broad understanding of current best practices in Occupational Therapy for the designated client group
  • Experience in research and/or audit and implementing evidence-based practices
  • Previous experience supervising staff
