Your responsibilities
You will be pivotal in enhancing our Plan for Better food waste and circular economy initiatives.
Working within the Corporate Responsibility Team, you will engage with diverse stakeholders across supply chains and operations to ensure we meet our sustainability goals.
This role involves crafting and executing the overarching environmental sustainability strategy, particularly emphasizing food waste and circularity.
You will oversee the food waste and redistribution program, collaborating closely with retail and operational teams to establish clear processes and pathways for achieving targets.
Moreover, you will lead the Circularity program within our General Merchandise (GM) sector, embedding our approach and fostering relationships with relevant organizations.
Your duties will also encompass managing supplier partnerships, analyzing sustainability data, overseeing complex projects, and directing communication and reporting efforts.
Your enthusiasm for sustainability, outstanding communication abilities, and capacity to thrive in a matrix-style organization will be vital to the successful implementation of our sustainability initiatives.
Who we are looking for
We are in search of a highly skilled and dedicated professional with a robust background in environmental sustainability, particularly in food waste and circular economy strategies.
With a relevant degree and substantial practical experience, you possess a comprehensive understanding of the WRAP food waste hierarchy and circularity principles, along with expertise in managing supplier relationships and intricate sustainability projects.
Your exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, empower you to work effectively with various stakeholders and influence decisions at all levels.
As a leader, you exhibit strong project management and execution capabilities, consistently prioritizing sustainable outcomes.
With your analytical mindset and systems thinking approach, you navigate complex information and challenges to make informed decisions that align with Sainsbury's values and sustainability objectives.
