About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Design and Process Engineer to join our dynamic design team at Jigsaw Business Group on a 6-month contract. As a key member of our team, you will play a crucial role in the design and development of innovative machinery and processes for the production of rail track fixing clips.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Collaborate with the Design Team: Work closely with our existing design team to develop cutting-edge machinery and processes that meet the highest standards of quality and efficiency.
  2. Design and Optimize Manufacturing Processes: Design and optimize manufacturing processes to increase production, reduce costs, and improve overall quality.
  3. On-Site Integration: Work on-site to ensure seamless integration and functionality of new machines and processes, ensuring minimal downtime and maximum productivity.
  4. Machine Design and Development: Design and develop flexible machine forming centers/stations with interchangeable forming heads, enabling efficient production and reduced waste.
  5. Quality Control and Assurance: Implement in-process testing and control mechanisms to enhance Quality, Cost, and Delivery (QCD) metrics, ensuring the highest standards of quality and customer satisfaction.
  6. Process Improvement: Identify and implement process improvements to increase efficiency, reduce costs, and improve overall productivity.
Requirements
  1. Proficiency in SolidWorks: Proficiency in SolidWorks and other relevant design software.
  2. Experience in Machine and Process Design: Proven experience in machine and process design, particularly in industrial manufacturing environments.
  3. Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to proactively identify and solve design challenges without waiting for detailed instructions.
  4. Core Processes: Hands-on experience with core processes including cutting to length, heating, forming, quenching, tempering, painting, and inspection.
  5. Modular Design Principles: Familiarity with modular design principles and international power/safety/machine regulations.
  6. Production Processes and Quality Control: Strong understanding of production processes and quality control measures.
Preferred Skills
  1. In-Process Testing and Quality Control: Experience with in-process testing and quality control integration.
  2. Value Stream Mapping and Quality Data Analysis: Knowledge of value stream mapping (VSM) and quality data analysis.
  3. Outsourcing Processes: Understanding of outsourcing processes like quenching, tempering, washing, painting, and powder coating.
  4. Product Families: Familiarity with handling a variety of product families with different forming and processing requirements.
