About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to join our team as the Head of Adjudication. This is a key leadership role that requires strong management and leadership skills, as well as a deep understanding of the pensions industry and its complexities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage the adjudication teams that investigate and adjudicate complaints within jurisdiction.
  • Provide oversight and guidance to team managers to ensure the delivery of a high-quality service in line with the aims and objectives of the section and The Pensions Ombudsman.
  • Monitor workloads and capacity across the section, working with team managers and the Deputy Chief Operating Officer (Casework) to share coordinated reports about performance, targets, and deadlines.
  • Plan and coordinate activities for the section to enable it to meet its objectives and those of The Pensions Ombudsman.
  • Develop and improve the adjudication section, including leading a key workstream as part of our Operating Model Review.
  • Manage individual performance and development for direct reports and monitor performance and development of all staff in the section.
  • Provide accurate and timely management reporting for their area of responsibility at relevant forums across The Pensions Ombudsman as a member of the Senior Leadership Team.
  • Work with senior managers and staff across The Pensions Ombudsman to improve insight and information sharing, including spotting issues and trends within their area and providing creative thinking around process development and service improvement.
