About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Occupational Therapist to join our dedicated team within a secure forensic mental health setting. You will play a crucial role in providing evidence-based interventions and support to patients, empowering them to develop skills and achieve their goals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive assessments of patients' needs and abilities, utilizing standardized OT assessments and outcome measures.
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans tailored to each patient's unique circumstances and goals.
  • Provide a range of therapeutic interventions, including group therapy, individual sessions, and skill-building activities.
  • Collaborate effectively with a multidisciplinary team, including psychiatrists, nurses, psychologists, and social workers, to ensure holistic patient care.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of patient progress and interventions.

Essential Skills and Experience

  • Proven experience working in a secure setting, such as a prison, young offender institute, or forensic unit.
  • Demonstrated ability to supervise other staff members or OT students.
  • Experience in undertaking clinical audit.
  • Exceptional communication, negotiation, and liaison skills (both oral and written).
  • Ability to motivate patients and work independently while prioritizing workload effectively.
  • Strong understanding of the Mental Health Act, relevant legislation, and current mental health issues.
  • Knowledge of evidence-based practice and risk assessment principles.

Desirable Skills and Experience

  • Awareness of current issues relating to forensic services.
  • Knowledge of clinical governance and audit procedures.
  • Familiarity with Rampton Hospital and its purpose.
