Position: Lead Nuclear Safety Engineer

Role Overview:

We are in search of dynamic nuclear engineers with a minimum of 5 years of experience to join our collaborative teams in Bristol and London. The successful candidates will play a crucial role in delivering technical engineering solutions, safety assessments, and project management for several significant projects within the nuclear power generation sector.

These projects encompass major modifications at existing facilities, system engineering tasks, safety documentation for new designs, and commissioning activities.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead the development and delivery of comprehensive safety assessments.
  • Provide expert technical input and guidance to address complex challenges.
  • Facilitate workshops for hazard identification and option evaluation.
  • Produce formal technical documentation, safety assessments, and project deliverables within agreed timelines and budgets.

Modification Implementation:
  • Conduct assessments related to plant obsolescence.
  • Draft specifications for new equipment.
  • Review design proposals and create substantiation reports.
  • Develop testing and commissioning strategies along with functional test procedures.

Support for Plant Operability:
  • Monitor conditions and identify plant faults.
  • Assist in reliability reviews, including site inspections.
  • Evaluate maintenance strategies and routines.
  • Manage projects and lead project teams while interfacing with clients.

Additionally, you will have the opportunity to mentor junior engineers and contribute to the technical growth of our expanding nuclear team. You may also support broader company initiatives, including industry networking, training development, and the creation of efficient methodologies.

This role may also provide opportunities to engage with other sectors within Risktec, such as clean energy, oil and gas, transport, and conventional power.


Qualifications:

To excel in this position, candidates should possess:

  • A proven history of maintaining engineering systems, commissioning new facilities, and delivering nuclear safety assessments.
  • A commitment to ensuring successful outcomes and continuous client satisfaction through practical and proportionate solutions.
  • The ability to collaborate effectively within a team while also working independently when necessary.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, along with strong organizational capabilities.
  • Robust analytical and logical reasoning skills.
  • The willingness to travel within the UK.

This role carries significant visibility, and we seek an enthusiastic and confident individual who can represent Risktec effectively to our clients.
