Senior Welding Engineer

BAE Systems is seeking a highly skilled Senior Welding Engineer to join our team in Barrow-In-Furness. As a key member of our Materials Technology Department, you will play a critical role in the development of innovative welding processes for submarine construction.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide technical guidance and support to structural and piping areas across the Submarines business unit
  • Develop and qualify welding procedure specifications to support process improvements within the production environment
  • Assist with preparation and transmittal of welding documentation to production areas
  • Monitor weld quality and report findings to internal stakeholders
  • Evaluate emerging process technology and consumables for suitability to submarine construction
  • Liaise with internal departments to ensure welding process control is enforced and maintained
  • Conduct routine process audits to investigate defect trends and facilitate improvement
Requirements:
  • Degree qualified in a relevant engineering subject
  • Recognised Welding Institute Qualifications - European Welding Technologist (EWT) or above
  • Working knowledge of main welding processes used for structural and piping applications
  • Experience of developing welding procedure specifications for ferrous and non-ferrous materials
  • Familiarity with national and international codes and specifications
