Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Robotics Engineer to join our team at BAE Systems. As a key member of our Materials Technology Department, you will be responsible for the technical support of state-of-the-art robotic welding systems and identifying opportunities for the adoption of robotic and automated technologies within our production environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform fault analysis, corrective actions, programme modification, system updates, and configuration management for robotic welding equipment.
  • Identify opportunities for the adoption of robotic and automated technologies and specify requirements for implementation.
  • Develop and introduce solutions for process improvements within the production environment.
  • Investigate and review emerging process technology and consumables for applicability to submarine construction.
  • Conduct routine process audits to investigate defect trends and facilitate improvement.

Requirements:

  • Extensive experience with ABB IRC5 robotic systems, including programming, fault finding, and rectification.
  • Qualified to BSc/BEng level or equivalent in a relevant engineering discipline.
  • Demonstrable working knowledge of main welding processes used in heavy engineering environments.
  • Ability to assimilate and process data from various sources and work independently or as part of a team.
