About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Mental Health Liaison Nurse Specialist to join our team at HCA UK. As a key member of our multidisciplinary team, you will play a critical role in supporting patients with mental health needs throughout their pathway, from pre-admission to discharge.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the planning and management of patients' mental health conditions, working closely with the patient's multi-disciplinary team and our Safeguarding Lead.
  • Manage a caseload within your scope of practice, with guidance and support from the CNO and the wider clinical team.
  • Upskill and train colleagues to manage acute mental health patient deteriorations and provide advice on management out of hours, in consultation with psychiatrists.
  • Complete risk assessments and provide advice on mental capacity assessments, building links with external inpatient mental health partners.
  • Manage challenging or disturbed behaviour, provide advice on medication, and participate in discharge planning for inpatients who require mental health support.
Requirements
  • Relevant post-registration experience at Band 6 in a mental health specialty area.
  • Minimum 3 years' experience as a nurse in a relevant specialty.
  • Proven ability to manage complex and difficult emotional situations.
  • Experience in developing policies and clinical pathways.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
