About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity to join our top-rated Aviation Team at Horwich Farrelly, working on behalf of a range of aviation insurers and their insured clients worldwide.

Our small team specializes in defending a wide range of aviation-related claims and litigation, with a particular emphasis on working for international airports in defense of claims and litigation arising from their everyday aviation activities.

You will work as part of the team as a Litigation Executive, ensuring that clients are confident that their legal affairs are dealt with in a business-like and competent manner, ensuring the efficient operation of the firm.

Key Responsibilities
  • Defend claims and litigation using our Case Management System, handling claims and litigation, and supporting more experienced members of the team with complex and high-value cases.
  • Manage a caseload of up to 90 fast-track cases, with a supporting role on 15 or so more complex claims.
  • Ensure that all cases are dealt with in compliance with Solicitors' Accounts Rules and Law Society Practice Management Standards.
  • Competently deal with files on a delegated basis and comply with client SLAs.
  • Refer cases for supervision and guidance to ensure the correct procedure and process is followed.
  • Enter into telephone negotiations, liaise with third-party solicitors, own insurer clients, and insured clients, and record the outcome of those approached.
  • Draft documents, including applications, offers, proposed orders, directions, etc.
  • Attend telephone conferences, applications, court hearings, and work to Court Deadlines and manage time in an effective manner using organizational skills and our case management system.
  • See cases through from letter of claim to a conclusion in a cost-effective manner.
  • Understand the litigation process and offer solutions to legal problems.
  • Manage time effectively and efficiently.
  • Complete MI and understand SLAs.
  • Comply with HF practice and procedures.
Other Responsibilities
  • Assist with the efficient running of the office generally.
  • Perform other responsibilities assigned by the Management Team as requested.
